Chutney is a chunky and flavorful blend of fruits stewed into a sweet and tangy sauce, just thick enough to hold everything together. This particular Tropical mango chutney combines sweet mango, colorful bell peppers and crisp onions in a vaguely Indian sauce full of spices, ginger and citrus.
This concoction is too thick to be considered a sauce; it’s really more of a topping, almost a side dish in its own right. Use it as a marinade for lighter proteins like fish or chicken or use it as a garnish after cooking. Toss a few spoonfuls into a salad for lots of wonderful flavors that your guests won’t be able to miss.
To extend this chutney into a heartier and full blown side dish, add some chunks of freshly cut fruit, tart raspberries or more fresh mango would be a perfect compliment and go very well with simply prepared fish and vegetables.
